Fifth District Louisiana Congressman Vance McAllister, who was caught on a video last December passionately kissing a married female aide in his office in Monroe, faces a very tough re-election campaign as a result of the scandal, says political pollster Bernie Pinsonat.
Pinsonat tells 99.5 WRNO the race is going to be about the scandal.
"Most of the candidates will be discussing that video. You'll probably see that video played a lot during the next seven or eight weeks," Pinsonat said.
The Republican incumbent faces six other Republicans, a Democrat, a Libertarian and a candidate who has "No Party".
Pinsonat says one sign that McAllister is in serious political trouble is the difficulty he's having raising campaign funds.
"McAllister hasn't been able to raise money. Most people don't want to give him money. They probably do not want their names associated with him," Pinsonat said.
There may be some in the 5th District who believe McAllister has repented, but it may not be enough to save him, Pinsonat said.
