Canaan Smith's New Years Resolutions Centered Around His Newborn Daughter

Canaan Smith and his wife Christy welcomed a baby girl, Virginia Rose, on Halloween in 2019. Since then, Smith's been adjusting to fatherhood and has started planning for the new year.

After a busy year out on the road performing, Smith plans to re-prioritize things at home in 2020 so he can spend more time with his family. “Virginia won’t be on the road with me just yet, so I’m gonna try to write more songs while I’m out there touring. That way, when I’m home, I can really be home and spend time with her,” he shared in a recent interview.

When he does get the chance to be home with Christy and Virginia, the country singer wants to be intentional with his time and make new memories. "[My bucket list item for 2020 is] to take my daughter on her first camping trip," he says.

Ultimately in 2020, Smith plans to focus more on his family and spending time with them. He adds, "My resolution this year is to set my mind on the things I do have and not what I don't."

Balancing a career like Smith's and having a family is not easy to do and this upcoming year is will be no exception. Looking ahead into 2020, the singer will remain busy as he gears up to release new music. He recently became the first artist signed to Florida Georgia Line's Round Here Records.

The duo's Tyler Hubbard and Brian Kelley are on a mission to showcase the talent that they believe in. Most recently country singer RaeLynn has joined the Round Here Records' roster.

At the time, Kelley said, "Tyler and I are looking for great people, great talent and great songs, and that's what Round Here and Tree Vibez is always focused on."
