Chatting with Melody Thomas Scott of the Young and the Restless

Confession... I have watched The Young and the Restless since I was ten years old and I am NOT about to give it up! I have stayed with it through every juicy, suck-you-in, can't-miss-a-moment story line... and I have even stuck it out through a few bad story lines (how many people can come back to Genoa City as the identical carbon copy of someone else? How many times can Adam die? And how many times am I going to cry about Adam dying?)

Even if you don't watch The Young and the Restless, you know the characters. You know Victor Newman. You know Jack Abbott. And you know Nikki Newman, who has been married to both of them multiple times.

But no matter how much you know about Nikki Newman, I bet you don't know a lot about Melody Thomas Scott, the actress who has played her since 1979, and that's somewhat by design. Throughout the years, she has managed to keep her private life private, until today. Today, Melody Thomas Scott released "Always Young And Restless," her first ever memoir that dives into her life away from the camera and back to a time when she suffered at home with her grandmother, who was not only her guardian, but a compulsive hoarder. She also tells the stories of abuse she suffered at the hands of men in the industry, acting in feature films with the likes of Alfred Hitchcock and Clint Eastwood, and she gives us a riveting behind-the-scenes look at forty years of life as star on television's highest-rated daytime serial.

Melody was kind enough to call today and chat about her new book, her role as Nikki, and we even talked about New Orleans. Here is our chat in it's entirety.
