Louisiana's largest mass vaccination event has been rescheduled. "Vaccine Fest," a 24-hour event that will be held in Metairie, was set to take place Wednesday; however, due to the threat of severe weather, organizers have postponed it until next week. Anyone who made an appointment for the event will be rebooked and contacted about their new time, The Times Picayune | New Orleans Advocate reports. If they have a conflict with the new time, patients have the option to reschedule.
Vaccine Fest is a unique event that is offering drive-thru vaccination appointments over the course of 24 hours. From 10 a.m. Monday, March 29, to 10 a.m. Tuesday, March 30, the Ochsner Health and Jefferson Parish-sponsored event will vaccinate 6,500 people with the Moderna COVID-19 vaccine, according to Fox 8 Live. To help keep it entertaining for everyone in line, the event will also include themed playlists and festival-inspired flair, according to Ochsner Health.
"COVID-19 has impacted the way we live, work, and celebrate and it has postponed the festivals we love," said Dawn Pevey, CEO, System Centers of Excellence and Service Lines. "We are all ready to return to normal and get back to doing what we enjoy."
