Garth Brooks and Trisha Yearwood took the stage with a John Lennon classic as they paid tribute to late former First Lady Rosalynn Carter during her memorial service on Tuesday (November 28). The country music legends performed “Imagine” in Rosalynn Carter’s honor at Glenn Memorial United Methodist Church in Atlanta, Georgia.

Brooks and Yearwood delivered a heartfelt acoustic rendition at the invitation-only service. The husband and wife duo formed a bond with Rosalynn Carter and her husband, former President Jimmy Carter, through their work with Habitat for Humanity over the years.

Rosalynn Carter died on Sunday, November 19. She was 96. The former First Lady was married to 2002 Nobel Peace Prize recipient Jimmy Carter, who served as the 39th President of the United States from 1977 to 1981. The former President said in a statement shared by the Carter Center: “Rosalynn was my equal partner in everything I ever accomplished. She gave me wise guidance and encouragement when I needed it. As long as Rosalynn was in the world, I always knew somebody loved and supported me.”

Jimmy Carter, 99, who entered hospice care earlier this year, attended his wife’s memorial service on Tuesday. Others who attended include President Joe Biden, Vice President Kamala Harris, Second Gentlement Doug Emhoff, former President Bill Clinton, former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton, former First Ladies Laura Bush, Michelle Obama and Melania Trump, and others.
