I was driving to work October 1st when I heard the news on the radio about the shooting at the Route 91 Harvest Festival. My stomach sank. I felt like I couldn’t breathe.
After the initial shock, I frantically called and texted friends who I thought may have been there. When they didn’t get back to me immediately I was just frozen.
Eventually I heard back from everyone. I was thankful, but my heart was broken for all of those who lost their lives.
Fifty-eight country music fans who probably saved up money to enjoy a weekend away from reality. Who were there to sing. Dance. Raise a glass to their favorite artist.
It’s still hard to process how something like this could happen. I think we all still have a lot of questions, many of which will likely never be answered.
Jason Aldean, who was on the stage at the time, returned to Vegas last weekend for the iHeartRadio Music Festival. He took this opportunity to honor the first responders who acted so valiantly that day to rescue the victims.
