Is it country? Is it hip hop?
Can we just like a song for what it is?
I'm a music lover and as silly as some of the lyrics to "Old Town Road" are, I'll admit this is a hit song. It's got a hook that immediately got stuck in my head after one listen. I found myself hitting replay a few times. And then I ended up adding it to my playlist of songs that get me pumped up in the morning.
Earlier this week Billboard pulled Lil Nas X and "Old Town Road" from the Billboard country chart for not being country enough. Some people are calling it straight up discrimination.
I'd like to make this comparison. Colt Ford has had a number one album on the country charts AND rap charts. He's also had several songs make it onto the country charts.

Now listen to Lil Nas X's "Old Town Road."
If Colt Ford can qualify as country with Billboard, why can't Lil Nas X?
