Chatting with Tyler Reddick

I like Tyler Reddick a lot. I started paying attention to him several years ago because he is Benny Brown's grandson. Benny was the founder and original owner of Broken Bow Records in Nashville and signed Jason Aldean, Dustin Lynch, and many more, so I loved the Country music connection that Tyler had and paid attention. But Tyler is so much more than Benny's grandson! Tyler has done incredibly well making a name for himself NASCAR, including claiming the Xfinity Series title in 2018 and 2019. In fact, Tyler is the first driver ever in the Xfinity Series to win consecutive titles drivers for two different car owners- JR Motorsports in 2018 and Richard Childress Racing in 2019. Tyler was also the runner-up in the Truck Series in 2015.

In 2020, Tyler moved over to the Cup series and had a respectable run as a rookie in the #8 car for Richard Childress Racing. So far this year, Tyler is having a nice season including five top 10s, with four of those top 10s coming in the last six races.

This weekend, NASCAR is in Dover. Last year, Tyler finished 13th and 18th at Dover, which is pretty good considering that there was no practice, the first lap that drivers turned at the track was lap one of the race, and Tyler was a Rookie. This weekend, Tyler starts 12th. After Dover, it's the NASCAR Cup Series's first race at Circuit of the Americas in Austin, then home to Charlotte for the Coca-Cola 600, then back to the state of Texas for the All-Star Race at Texas Motor Speedway.

With the season Tyler is having, I am sure he will continue to run well and it woldn't be surprising to see him in Victory Lane sooner than later! We chatted about the upcoming races, the dream of getting his first win, and I may or may not have gotten the model of his car correct. But it's OK... he called me sligtly tardy (by about 25 minutes!), so things we pretty loose!

Thanks to Tyler for taking the time to call, and best of luck to him this weekend and beyond! Here is our chat in it's entirety.
