Jessica Simpson opens up about sexual assault when she was only 6

25th Annual QVC Presents "FFANY Shoes On Sale" Gala

Jessica Simpson is telling all in a new memoir titled Open Book.

The entertainer turned business mogul reveals that she was sexually abused as a young girl. She says the pain from that time, along with other stressors, led her to become addicted to alcohol and stimulants as an adult — which led her doctor to warn her that her life was in jeopardy. “I was killing myself with all the drinking and pills,” she writes.

She says the abuse began when she was only six, “when I shared a bed with the daughter of a family friend. It would start with tickling my back and then go into things that were extremely uncomfortable.” She finally told her parents when she was 12.

Jessica writes that she hit rock bottom after a Halloween party in late 2017, when she told her friends: “I need to stop. Something’s got to stop. And if it’s the alcohol that’s doing this, and making things worse, then I quit.”

Open Book comes out February 4th.
