Early voting for the upcoming special state legislative primary election is suspended today because of the severe winter weather.
Gov. Jeff Landry issued a proclamation on Sunday that called off today's early voting. The Secretary of State's office is also closed today.
Early voting will resume on Tuesday and continue through January 31.
The special legislative primary is being held on February 7 in Orleans and St. Bernard Parishes, among others. The local elections involve State Senate District 3 and House Districts 97 and 100.
