State officials say the death toll in Louisiana from the winter storm is now nine.
The Louisiana Department of Health says the DeSoto Parish coroner confirmed on Thursday that an elderly man died of hypothermia in his home during a power outage.
A previously reported death in Sabine Parish is no longer believed to be weather-related.
The causes of death include hypothermia, loss of oxygen due to power failure, carbon monoxide poisoning, and a traffic accident on an icy road.
